Tis the Season

Hey Friends!

So it's that time of the year, the most wonderful time of the year some may say. A time where outside is generally white and beautiful, where people are generous and thoughtful, and you are blessed and can bless others.

I have to admit though, Christmas wasn't my favorite holiday until this year... and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the two foot tall, 6 month old child in our home.  I mean seriously, how can anyone not love this girl??

She couldn't help herself with the present my dad's side brought up. Matt was pulling her away from the present because she almost soaked the paper through from gnawing on it.

Here.. let me show you!

Sorry for all the photos, but I just can't help myself... like I said earlier, I'm pretty sure she is the reason Christmas may be my favorite holiday!

Anyway, I have to say that I am learning a new idea for gifts and giving. I'm realizing that the best gifts that I have received were ones that I would use all the time, meaningful yet functional gifts.

Take the gift my dad's side gave us. They brought up not only a chest freezer but also roughly 40 pounds of venison (aka deer meat)! This is such a great gift for us because as Lily is starting to eat solids I'm going to be looking into making baby food and freezing it. Also now that we have the space, Matthew and I can snag those great deals at the store and actually have a place in our freezer for them!

So I have to say, to those of you who are still snagging gifts and whatnot, sometimes the gifts that mean the most aren't the shiniest or the newest, but the gifts that are functional and either normal or mundane!

Although, I do think that I need to mention that Christmas is more than just a holiday. It's a reminder of Christ, of His birth over 2,000 years ago, and of the life that would change and save lives.

So when you hear the Christmas songs, and you see the nativity scenes, remember what the birth of Christ meant for the world. Remember who He is, and stop and give thanks. Thank Him for His grace and mercy. Thank Him for loving us enough to come to earth knowing He would die and by doing so provide a way to Him.

 Just stop and praise Him.

xoxo,

Samantha
